Pre-Wedding Interview: Crafting the Perfect Experience

Before Hunter and Monica’s wedding, we sat down for an insightful pre-wedding interview to understand their vision. They wanted their big day to feel like a real summer vibe, channeling the elegance of an Italian summer with a cocktail theme. They envisioned fun, laughter, and an unforgettable night with their closest friends and family. Their venue at the stunning rooftop terrace of Tradewinds Hotel was the perfect backdrop to make their dreams come to life.

The couple wanted a relaxed and engaging atmosphere, so I knew it was essential to curate the music to reflect their love for classics like Roy Orbison and Frankie Valli. Monica also had a special request for me to act as both their DJ and MC throughout the day—adding a personal touch to every moment, including their ceremony, dinner, and reception.

Planning for Success: Personal Touches and Surprises

Monica, being a dancer, had a special surprise planned for her dad during their father-daughter dance. She secretly choreographed a dance, set to an edited version of Tiny Dancer mixed with Hold Me Closer by Elton John & Britney Spears. Together, we worked on perfecting the music edit, and the result blew Monica away. This moment was just one example of how personalised touches can make a wedding unforgettable.

For their first dance, Hunter and Monica wanted something truly unique. We carefully crafted a mixed edit of Heaven by Kane Brown and Heaven by DJ Sammy. With the couple’s input, we fine-tuned the song to create the perfect edit for their first dance. The final result was a polished, dreamy first dance that felt just right for the couple.

Wedding Setup: Creating the Perfect Atmosphere

We arrived early on the big day, around 9:30 am, to set up all the equipment, test the sound, and ensure everything was in place. The rooftop venue offered stunning views, but the Perth heat was a challenge! We had to move some equipment into the backroom with air conditioning to protect it from sun. Despite the heat, everything was running smoothly, and we were all set for the ceremony.

Reception: Bringing the Party to Life

After some behind-the-scenes coordination, it was time to get the party started. The bridal party made their grand entrance, and the energy in the room was palpable. We had carefully curated a playlist to match the guests’ energy, and it wasn’t long before the dance floor was packed.

Hunter and Monica’s grand entrance was to Discoteca by IAmChino & Pitbull, and the crowd was immediately hyped. As the evening progressed, we blended in a variety of dance-worthy tracks, from Never Say Never by Justin Bieber to classic 90s pop hits like Tearing Up My Heart by NSYNC. The dance floor was absolutely packed, and everyone was enjoying themselves.

Special Moments: Keeping the Magic Alive

One of the highlights of the night was Monica’s surprise choreographed father-daughter dance. We had prepared for this moment by crafting a custom music edit for Tiny Dancer by Elton John, transitioning into the remix with Britney Spears. The dance was a heartwarming, emotional moment that Monica and her dad will never forget.

As the evening went on, we kept the energy high with more 90s dance bangers, followed by a crowd-favourite Italian megamix, including the Tarantella dance. The guests loved the variety of music, and it kept them dancing throughout the night.

Let’s Get the Party Started: Unforgettable Moments

With every element in place, the party truly kicked off. Everyone was in full swing, dancing to energetic house tracks, summer vibes, and 70s disco. As the night reached its peak, we set the stage for Hunter’s special moment: a live karaoke performance of I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys. It was Hunter’s time to shine, and he nailed it, getting the entire crowd on their feet and singing along.

To end the night on a high note, Hunter and Monica made their exit through an archway to You’re My Best Friend by Queen—a fitting end to a night filled with love, laughter, and memories.
