Memorable Weddings – Georgia & Matt

The Initial Call
“Hey Daniel!!! I hope this finds you well, my girlfriend Gabby recommended you and said you did an amazing job at the engagement party which I remember for its killer d floor!”
After seeing us play at their close friend Gabby & Jake’s Engagement Party, Georgia & Matt knew they wanted to bring the same energy and vibes at their wedding.
When we first spoke with Georgia, she gave us the run down of what she wanted her dream wedding to be like. Drawing upon her past experiences with DJ’s at weddings, she wanted to avoid anything that was instrumental or heavy music – in other words, she wanted a perfect balance right in the middle. Georgia’s friends were more into the party tracks whereas Matt’s friends preferred old school genres. Georgia emphasised the importance of having both party tracks as well as classic sing-alongs so that everyone was able to get involved on the dance floor.
Diesel knew that those golden classics like ‘Horses’ by Daryl Braithwaite and ‘American Pie’ by Don McLean would be able to get the older crowd moving, but also familiar favourites across all age groups.
After the initial chat with Georgia, it was time to start planning, selecting all time favourites and refining a track list before their Pre-Wedding Interview.
Planning for Success
From the Pre-Wedding Interview with Georgia & Matt, Diesel knew he was going to have to put in a lot of planning to pull of their wedding exactly how they wanted it.
Something that came out of their Interview was that the couple ended up with a massive ‘Do Not Play List’. To make sure that none of these artists and songs got played on the night, Diesel did a lot of preparation of the songs and artists that they DID want to hear. From practising mini-sets of genres they loved to making house remixes, Diesel put the effort and time into planning so Georgia & Matt could get the exact experience they were after.
We always make sure that we put in the time and effort to prepare and practice for all of our events. Our clients are our first priority, and this is one of the best ways to make sure everyone gets the event that they dreamed of.

Destination Wedding
As mentioned earlier, Georgia & Matt had their wedding at the beautiful Coral Bay, a picturesque coastal town about 1000km north of Perth.
To get to this beautiful slice of WA coast, you can either brave the 12 hour drive, or catch a flight into Exmouth then drive 1.5 hours down to the Bay. Georgia & Matt flew Diesel up for their big day.
When Diesel got to the airport on the day, however, the whole airport had to be evacuated. As the delay stretched on, Diesel got more and more concerned that he was going to be late for the wedding, or miss it altogether!
Luckily, the delays were sorted out and he managed to make it to Coral Bay just in time. After arriving at his accommodation, he got ready and went straight to the wedding, set up his lights and decks and then the party got started while Jimmy McGrath from exmouth finished off his acoustic set.
Let’s Get Started
Diesel kicked off the reception from 7pm!
Straight after the bridal party entered to a song that matched them, Georgia & Matt entered to ‘Shut Up & Dance’ by Walk the Moon, as everyone clapped them on.
As the Bride & Groom cut the cake, Diesel went with the flow and started playing the vibey house music that they had requested to get the night started.
Georgia jumped up to dance as soon as she could, feeling the vibes with the little ones and oldies alike all enjoying the music. From what started as a few people, Diesel soon had half of the guests on the dance floor in no time, enjoying the early night house vibes. This was such a rewarding moment for Diesel to see all of the preparation pay off!
Not wanting to leave the dance floor for too long, the speeches all got smashed out at 8pm.
Shortly after that, Georgia & Matt had their first dance to ‘Cover Me Up’ by Morgan Wallen, followed by the Father Daughter Dance to ‘Forever You and Me’ by The Teskey Brothers.
Then it was time for everyone to hit the dance floor.
Time to Party
Diesel played ‘Valerie’ by Amy Winehouse to transition out of the slow dances into the dance floor party hits that Georgia & Matt wanted to hear.
Everyone was chilling and dancing in the middle of the backyard, but when Diesel played his 90s pop set, everyone started going crazy on the dance floor. When Diesel was playing ‘Believe’ by Cher, the 10th song of the party set, one of Georgia & Matt’s friends, Brad Sheppard, came over to say just how crazy Diesel was. Diesel said “Watch Me” and launched into a live mashup, setting the crowd off!
As the party raged on, everyone gathered in front of Diesel, forming that mosh pit vibe. The night is more about matching everyone’s vibe so you can cultivate those ‘WOW’ moments! Being able to bounce off of the crowds energy is essential, and Georgia & Matt’s wedding brought that to a whole other level. From this moment, the dance floor was never empty.
Diesel kept flowing between Georgia & Matt’s favourite genres, from RnB, house, dance, country, rock n roll, 80s and 70s disco to punk rock.
From shoulder rides, to people dancing on tables, everyone was having the time of their lives to Georgia & Matt’s favourite hits. Seeing how happy they both were is a huge testament to why Diesel does what he does. Being able to feel that energy from the dance floor and from the client’s and their guests is indescribable.

Don’t Want This Night to End…
This epic night of dancing and partying had to have an equally epic send off.
As the night headed towards its close, Diesel was playing through a 2000s HipHop set when he read the crowd to know what would really send off the night.
He smashed out a 90s dance set in the lead up to the planned final songs, and the crowd loved it. So much so, that everyone just didn’t want to get off the dance floor!
We’re not kidding; people couldn’t stop asking where the after party was, and if Diesel could keep the party going!
Diesel rounded off the night for Georgia & Matt with their second last song, ‘We are the Champions’ by Queen, which led into their last song of the night, ‘Closing Time’ by Semisonic.
What an incredible night of music and dancing with this special couple and their family and friends, to the beautiful surrounds of Coral Bay.
What they thought…
So how did Georgia & Matt think their big day went? Just have a read through this testimonial from them below.
“After hearing good things from a close friend, I now also cannot recommend Daniel from Diesel Productions highly enough! He had our wedding party on the dance floor from 7pm, and people didn’t stop dancing until midnight when our wedding finished. And even then people were asking where the after-party was at! Thanks for the awesome night, and for guiding us through the pre-planning when we were struggling to name songs. We will be recommending Diesel Productions to people I know looking for DJs in the future!”
What an honour!
Georgia & Matt wanted a NON STOP PARTY for their wedding that covered both the party and throwback tracks, that both families loved.
Well, we sure delivered.
Everyone was on the dance floor for 5 HOURS OF NON STOP DANCING.
We wish we could have kept partying all night long in Georgia & Matt’s beautiful wedding location with all their wonderful family and friends, who were keen to get on the dance floor and party the night away.
These are the type of clients we love working with. We love cocktail weddings because the guests will almost always want to get on the dance floor all night long. We specialise at creating these type of weddings: where everyone just wants to dance and have a good time.
Fortunately for us, this was only Round 1 of partying with Georgia & Matt. After a successful night, Georgia & Matt’s close friend and Bridesmaid Ellen booked us for their wedding the following year. Check out our blog post on Ellen & Brad’s Wedding to keep the party vibes going for Round 2.
